2025 Honorees
Visionary Award: Jennifer L. Freedman

Jennifer L. Freedman serves as the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation and Data Privacy Officer for the Lindenhurst Union Free School District, where she leads districtwide initiatives in digital learning, AI integration, cybersecurity, and library media programs. A Director-at-Large for NYSCATE as well as an ISTE Certified Educator and Community Leader, she is recognized for her innovative leadership in fostering creativity, collaboration, and meaningful technology integration across K–12 classrooms. Recognition for her contributions includes the Administrator of the Year Award from Western Suffolk BOCES in 2023 and the Superintendent’s Harvard Award in 2022. Her educational journey is deeply rooted in a commitment to continuous learning, evidenced by a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction she is pursuing at the University at Albany. She also holds an Advanced Diploma with Distinction in School Leadership and Technology from the New York Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Texas.
Most Innovative Use of Technology Award: Mr. Robert Farenga

Robert Farenga is a 20-year veteran teacher of Computer Science and Spanish in the Port Jefferson School District, specializing in integrating innovative technology into curriculum and instruction. In his work with the district’s tech-forward initiatives, he has successfully pioneered multiple K–12 programs which include Drones, Esports, Digital Learning, and more. A strong believer in merging traditional education methods with modern technology, Mr. Farenga has inspired both students and colleagues to embrace creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration in the digital age. His leadership in STEAM education has helped equip students with essential 21st-century skills while fostering curiosity and confidence in emerging fields.
